Overview
This is a four month capital campaign to raise $150,000 for the construction of the new South Haven Bark Park at Riverwoods.
Individuals, businesses, civic groups and community leaders will be invited to donate to this new dog park which will be free to users and will occupy five acres in the new Riverwoods Recreation area.
A short history of our quest for a dog park. In 2012, a group of neighbors joined together to develop a community dog park, a safe space to let dogs run, play, and socialize. The South Haven Dog Park became a reality. It was a membership-based dog park on generously donated land on Eighth Avenue. However, this was always intended to be a temporary location and the objective remained to find a permanent home for a municipal dog park. The South Haven Area Recreation Authority (SHARA) has purchased the 50-acre Riverwoods site to develop a community recreation park. The area, east of Blue Star Highway and between the Black River and Second Avenue, will include a 5-acre wooded parcel dedicated to the development of the South Haven Bark Park at Riverwoods.
The South Haven Bark Park at Riverwoods will be South Haven’s first public dog park, a park that will be available to all area residents as well as visitors. Help make this dream a reality by donating generously. 100% of donations given to the South Haven Bark Park at Riverwoods will be used exclusively for dog park development. Your gift is tax deductible. South Haven Bark Park is a not-for-profit organization recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
